Position: Technology Officer
Term of Office
Per Article IX of the WFTDA bylaws, Officers are appointed by the Board of Directors and serve at their discretion until removed by the Board of Directors or choose to resign. Officers do not have term limits. Officer appointees shall assume the responsibilities of their office immediately.

● One Letter of Recommendation from a representative of the applicant's Member Organization governing body (League Board of Directors, Steering Committee, etc.), backing the application and confirming the applicant's eligibility and suitability for the position.
● Two Letters of Recommendation from any WFTDA Member Organization active skater or official representative, backing the application and the applicant's suitability for the position.
● Candidate Letter of Intent and Resume – Relevant qualifications and experience (paid or unpaid jobs), prior WFTDA committee jobs, brief summary of involvement in roller derby (including any non-WFTDA roles), and what they hope to accomplish as the Technology Officer.
Position Summary
The Technology Officer manages initiatives related to the technology necessary to facilitate and develop WFTDA infrastructure and growth. Ultimately, decision-making about WFTDA technology falls to the Membership, Staff, and Board of Directors. The CTO will serve as a strategic leader, facilitator, and project manager of those efforts, charged with ensuring the smooth management and expansion of technology systems within the WFTDA.
The CTO will be tasked with moving forward specific programs and projects within the technology area of the WFTDA. This will be a Officer-level position, which will require leadership, delegation and a strong knowledge of the WFTDA, and the technologies that already exist.
Responsibilities
● Manages the day-to-day operations of WFTDA’s technology committees, including directing Chairs who support data storage, forum, security, infrastructure and other information technology functions.
● Provide technological guidance to all pillars within the organization.
● Assess and anticipate technology projects and recommend appropriate action and resources. Oversee tech projects and new initiatives.
● Consult with Chairs, staff, vendors/contractors, and the Board of Directors to exchange information, present new approaches, and to discuss equipment/system changes.
● Participate in vendor contract negotiations for all new equipment, software, tools, and contracts purchased for the corporation.
● Establish and direct the strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for the information technology department.
● Supervise information system and communications network.
● Supervise and support tech committee chairs. Assist and mentor tech committee chairs in chair leadership and committee management tasks. Assist committees in re-evaluating processes to manage growth.
● Primary liaison between the Board of Directors, staff, and tech committees
● Update P&P manuals for tech committees.
● Develop plans and timelines. Project management for all initiatives underway or needing evaluation.
● Communicate regularly with staff, Chairs, volunteers, and the Board of Directors.
● Solicit, collect, and publish feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
● Document, report, and archive.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Deep knowledge of WFTDA tech resources, processes, and history.
● Demonstrated ability to implement projects and adhere to established timelines. Must be able to manage projects independently and prioritize tasks.
● Demonstrated ability to work as part of a group and lead a team, particularly a team of invested, senior level volunteers. Non-profit or other non-hierarchical leadership experience a must.
