HELP WANTED: Level 2/3 Panelist (6 positions)
« on: March 21, 2018, 03:45:40 am »
Committee: Certification

Contact info: Strong Female Character sfc@wftda.com (Certification Chair)

Reports to: A Level 2/3 Panel Chair.

Time Commitment:   20 hours during the first 20 days of every month except December. This is not very flexible.

Description: After training, you will join a panel with one other Level 2/3 Panelist and a Level 2/3 Panel Chair, to review applications for Level 2 or Level 3 Certification, for both referees and NSOs, as well as applications for Level 1 that were submitted for consideration by a Level 1 Panelist. You will carefully review their record via written feedback in various formats that describe the official’s performance in specific games, as well as broader overviews of their overall skills and level of performance.

Upon careful consideration of the above, your panel will together determine whether or not to certify the official, and at what level. Regardless of the level for which the official applied, you may deny certification, or you may grant it at Level 1, 2, or 3. If consensus is not reached, a determination will be made by majority vote. Panels are expected to set up monthly meetings to go over candidates and arrive at their decisions.

You will also write a summary of all of the material reviewed. This summary should clearly identify strengths, and also identify challenges. This summary should be detailed, as it might constitute the only constructive criticism that some officials are able to obtain. For any decisions below Level 3, this summary must concretely state what is holding the official back from the next level, in the form of concrete steps necessary for the official to obtain the next level.

Your group is expected to make this determination carefully for no more than 10 individual applicants per month. However, to give the Certification Committee time to review and ensure that your summaries are of high quality, these determinations must be made and the summaries must be written on or before the 20th of the month. All applications for Level 2 and 3 will be made available by the 1st of the month, and all “bumped” Level 1 applications will be available by the 10th of the month.

• Careful reader with strong recall / retention (or excellent note-taking ability)
• Strict confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
