Thank you for the update.
As I sit on a plane on the way to teach an officiating clinic, I'd like to take a moment to express how important education (officiating and otherwise) is to me personally, and to the growth of this sport. With all of the talk of officiating recruitment and retention, I can honestly say that the lack of a comprehensive education program is a huge factor in the exodus we are now seeing in the officiating ranks. Not only does this deficiency lead to lesser educated and involved officials, but it also speaks to our priorities as an organization the longer it goes unaddressed. After all, if we are not putting resources towards officials, we can't honestly say we care about why they are leaving.
All of that said, I understand how many moving parts we are dealing with, and that the wftda needs to prioritise putting out the biggest fires. I appreciate your prompt response to my question, and look forward to further updates. I just wanted to let you (and others) know how important I (and others) feel this position to be, and how the continued delay looks and feels from the outside.
Thank you
